Dual-purpose, flat romano-type green and yellow snap beans with varying degrees of crimson blush, and occasionally speckled pods. Dry beans are blue and tan, with exceptional texture and nice flavour when cooked. Vines reach 6-8 feet with large, sparsely distributed leaves.

These are really tasty snap beans that are excellent cooked fresh off the vine. Best picked young before the seeds really start to fill out, but if you miss that window you can use them as shelly beans. As a dry bean they hold up really well to cooking, retaining their shape nicely without getting mushy in a hurry. 

Lakeside is a selection from the Lemonade Cascade population, made during my first attempt to sort out how the different seed colours are related to one another. I started out searching for a line of strictly blue-seeded plants, but I found this blue and tan combo to be really mesmerizing. So far the colours come back in roughly the same ratio from year to year, and off-types were just under 1% in 2024. So, it's not yet completely stable, but pretty close! I hope.
