An evolution of Adaptive Seeds' British Pop Runner Bean mix. The vines reach about 7 to 8 feet, and can produce some lengthy pods, up to 13 inches long. Leaves are either dark green or a somewhat translucent chartreuse. Flowers come in several combinations of both solid and bicolour blooms of red, white, and salmon. A great multi-purpose bean, these are excellent as a snap, fresh shelled, or dry bean. I like the fresh whole pods best. They have an amazing sweet flavour with a crisp-crunchy texture that holds up well to cooking.

The first year I grew these fine beans I added Golden Sunshine to the mix to impart a two-toned effect to the foliage, which has continued fairly consistently in subsequent generations. The seeds have developed more colours than I started with, but my first seed crop looked pretty much exactly like the original seed sample I planted - a collection of black, white, and speckled lavender seeds. In the second year a few plants produced a combination of brown, cream, and grey seeds in various solid and speckled colour configurations that made me think of chocolates. I planted these separately in year three. The resulting crop was a fairly even mix of the original colours with the new chocolate combos, plus a couple of subtle new colours - extremely dark brown and extremely dark blue, which are easy to mistake for black. I'm hoping to find some lighter versions of these super dark seed colours in future generations.
