French heirloom with nice rounded seeds that are larger than other black beans, and a sturdy upright growth habit that keeps the pods off the ground. Most often used as a dry bean but can be used as a fresh snap bean and a shelly bean as well. They dry down fairly early and resist shattering in the field, but are easy to shell. I don't think I've ever met a black bean I didn't like, but this one is my favourite.
